This natural, untreated rough specimen is Tiffany Stone, sourced from a beryllium mine in Utah, USA. Due to its composition and the challenges in mining it in larger quantities, Tiffany Stone is becoming increasingly scarce. It consists of a mix of minerals including bertrandite, beryl, calcite, chalcedony, cobalt, dolomite, fluorite, manganese oxide, rhodonite, quartz, zinc, and white opal potch. The distinctive purple color of Tiffany Stone is attributed to fluorine gases, while striking black veins are caused by manganese oxide. These minerals were trapped within sedimentary layers and underwent opalization over time. Unlike Australian opals, Tiffany Stone does not exhibit opalescence or color play.
