Indonesian Opal Specimens

Natural rough opal potch wood, which is volcanic, is mined in Indonesia, displaying hues ranging from olive green to brown. Unlike black volcanic Indonesian opal, which is often treated, this potch wood opal remains untreated.
Opal miners typically wrap the black volcanic opal in aluminum foil, heat it to enhance its appearance, and add oil to penetrate the specimen. This process not only enhances the colors but also removes sticky clay from the opal.
It's important to note that the treatment of these opals is not permanent. Some sellers enhance the appearance of opal specimens by filling glass vials with glycerine to further highlight their colors.
Our sellers from Indonesia are transparent about whether the opal has undergone treatment, and this information will be clearly stated in the product descriptions.
