This opalised fossil was mined recently by our company in our Dead Horse Gully claim north west of Coober Pedy Australia.

The ancient mussel shell was ubiquitous in the vast shallow inland Eromanga sea in what is the central Australian outback Today.

WEIGHT: 53.6 carats, weighed dry.

DIMENSIONS: Approx: 31 mm by 20 mm by 15 mm.

This is an untouched fully opalised shell apart from having most of the host shale removed.

This piece would yield many carats of beautiful blue green Gem Crystal, but is possibly better left as a specimen.
