This is a beautiful Mexican opal that is transparent when held up to the light. However, as soon as the light hits it the opal jumps life with flashes of colour. This is such an amazing type of opal.
Mexican opal is a very unique type of opal. The most expensive type of mexican opal is the type that has a very deep red body colour. After the body tone is assesed, the play of colour is the next feature of the opal. Mexican opal is the only opal where a deep red opal with no play of colour will be more expensive than any other Mexican opal.
