This rare and spectacular opalised belemnite specimen was mined on the 23 Mile (Browns Folly) opal field, not far from where the famous Virgin Rainbow pipe was found, and has been valued at around $50 per carat.
Item Specifics:
WEIGHT: 72 carats.
DIMENSIONS: 99 mm by 12 mm by 12 mm.
Also use the ruler as your guide to size (INCHES)
BRIGHTNESS: A lovely violet crystal 2 out of 5 all over.
FEATURES: Fully visible siphuncle, full and unbroken termination point with polished gem opal window one entire side.
This piece has formed naturally in 3 pieces and we have re-attached the structure and polished one side only with a professional polish to reveal water clear eletcric blue green crystal the entire length of the piece. This is a world class, museum grade specimen.
We do not sell opal simulants of ANY sort. All of our opal is 100% guaranteed Natural Australian Opal.
The color variations in the photos are due to different light angles, distances and backgrounds. All of our auctions are photographed with macro settings under a 60 watt incandescent lamp. We try to create a true as possible representation of the stones you will receive.
Please check the dimensions carefully as the opal will not be as big in your hand as it looks on your monitor! Also some monitor settings will cause white based opal to look darker than it actually is. Please check the description carefully before bidding and view your opal in sunlight or in a dark room with a direct light source ie: desk lamp, down light etc. (As photographed and practiced throughout the opal industry).
