I designed this Sterling Silver setting specifically for new opal cutters. Please see video for instructions on how to cut and set your opal for this setting.
No special silver working tools are required to set your opal.
The best way to start making cash from your hobby is by calibrating stones and selling finished pieces. It is significantly easier to sell finished pieces than it is to sell loose opal.
I suggest using a special lapidary epoxy like the 330 that we carry in the shop here to secure your opal into this setting.

The stone that this setting wants is a Round 15x15 by 5mm thick or thicker if you want too shape a dome.
