INDONESIAN WOOD FOSSIL OPAL SPECIMEN
This is a piece of natural rough wood fossil opal i purchased on my last trip to Banten. This material is not suitable for cutting and best as a specimen. . On the body tone scale the rating for this material is N4 so its quite naturally dark. This material has been treated by heating in sand with oil- Note I suspect they have also added a resin to get a finish.The finish could be improved by placing in a vibrating tumber with polishing powder. .
