PLEASE NOTE: With the contra luz variety of Mexican opal the internal rainbow colored fire is best viewed in transmitted light ( light entering stone from behind), rather than reflected light ( light shinning on stone from in front) and although with some stones of this variety rainbow fire may be visible in reflected light, the fire is NOT VISIBLE in ordinary lighting.

This stone will display nice internal rainbow colored fire when viewed with strong direct transmitted lighting, lightly visible in direct reflected lighting, but best viewed with light source entering stone from behind, such as from a ray of sunlight or even by holding stone up to an ordinary lamp light and moving stone back and forth. Transparent, near eye clean with small dark base of pavilion spot, free of crazing, with attractive face up and eye appeal. Custom cut about 4 years ago from rough well seasoned and so very stable, stone approx. 18 x 8.5 mm. Valuable opal variety.

Photo taken with an ordinary digital camera with a ray of sunlight entering stone from behind at at a slight angle to best show fire. Color has not been enhanced - but note that rainbow fire is NOT VISIBLE in ordinary lighting.

Pacific Opals buys durectly from family owned mines in the Guadalajara region of Mexico All our Mexican Opals are from four different mines, Las Azucenas, San Simon, La Gema y San Martin. There is no middle man when you deal with Pacific Opals, there is me - Ramon. And I just returned from Guadalajara, Mexico, and I have brought with me not only excellent opals, but also a wealth of knowledge of how these marvelous gems reach the international marketplace. My family contacts in the Guadalajara, Mexico region are deep. My deceased grandfather was a well known and well respected miner in that area of Magdalena, and it is through these family contacts that I am able to offer such exquisie opals.I brought back some commercial grade rough opals.and extra fina opal in cantera, These are an excellent investment for either jewelers or collectors.I also came into some carved opals which will soon be posted, We just received 2 kilos of a mixture of high grade and extra fina opal in cantera, the cantera is a variety of dark, light tan and white textures - and well worth checking out. Thanks for your interest.Ramon If you feel your items that you purchased might get lost in the US post office mail, purchase insurance, we are not responsible for lost items in the mail.
