FAIRY OPAL STONE
This is a natural precious opal embedded in sandstone and mined in Queensland. In the rough this is a creamy coloured sand stone which when you wet it you see flecks of colour. As with most Australian opals red is the rarest colour with blue /greens more common in fairy opal. It has been treated with sugar only and no acid is used to look like expensive black opal.It has been treated with a resin which gives a amazing polish. The stone looks better in the hand than the photos and videos.
The treatment is permanent.

Paul, a former president of the Opal Association and an author of several opal books, shares his vast knowledge and passion with enthusiasts globally. He’s even made the largest donation of opalized fossils and curiosities to the Australian Opal Centre at Lightning Ridge.
