Belemnite fossil specimen that has been part polished to expose the colour..
This is a opalized fossil replacement of a marine creature "belemnite" that roamed the Cretaceous sea 100 million years ago. Very similar to our squid to day!
Most specimens break when they are taken out of the mine wall as the dirt is solid. So they are glued back together.
