Sometimes before you cut a piece of rough opal it helps to be able to see into the opal a bit more than you can with your naked eye. This Opal Examination Light allows you to backlight translucent opals to help identify cracks and sand spots before you start cutting. It can also help detect if colour bars run underneath sand spots which can be very helpful in planning your cuts. The light comes with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and a charging station with both Australian and USA charging adapters.
The light has a toggle switch that allows you to switch between Warm/Cool/ and UV LED lights.
It also has a removable focusing tip so that you can use the light as a regular flashlight for a short time. Extended use will heat up the battery and is not encouraged.
PLEASE NOTE - This is a very good value/budget option for a gem light. It is the best light I have ever found for the cost. It is perfectly good for inspecting opals for a few minutes at a time and will last many years if you take care of it. It is not however meant for extended use in one sitting. If you require a lite that will work for extended periods as would be used in a professional setting, or a flashlight/torch that you can use for hours blacklighting the opal fields or camping etc, this is not the light for you. A light that is capable of that intensity over many hours requires expensive hardware and if that is what you are looking for I suggest you pick up a gemfish light. They are currently (as of this posting) $230 AUD at https://gemfish.com
IMPORTANT- When you get this light there is a plastic tab between the battery and the terminal. It is there to allow me to legally ship these lights internationally. When you get your light please unscrew the back and remove the battery and plastic disc and then reassemble before turning on. Although possible, I suggest never unscrewing the front of the light, only unscrew the back to remove battery for recharging.

Why are users outbidding themselves?
When a bid is placed, this is the maximum amount a user is willing to bid for the product. Our system will then automatically bid on that users behalf, incrementally increasing the bid to maintain their position as the highest bidder, up to the specified maximum.
When there is an icon indicating 'Auto Bid,' it means our system is actively placing bids for the user based on their maximum bid. This may appear as if users are outbidding themselves, but it's simply a result of the system updating the bid to reflect the users maximum limit.
