Sugar Method: Soak the opal in a 50/50 sugar-water bath overnight, wrap it in foil, and bake it in your oven at its highest setting for a couple of hours.

Oil Method: Soak the opal in vegetable oil, wrap it in foil, and place it on hot coals or a barbecue pit for about half an hour.

Note: This opal is not heat-sensitive, making it ideal for various treatment methods.

Finishing Touches

Once your cabochon is cut and treated, you can choose to leave it in its natural form or add a glossy finish. We recommend using hard-curing resins like Epoxy 330 or top-coat nail polish for a glass-like appearance.

Important: Avoid using cerium oxide for polishing as it is not suitable for matrix opal.
